The sectors and their location

The food and drink sector is the largest of all. The wine industry concentrated in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and Vilafranca del Penedès is the most important, followed by other localities such as Font-Rubí, Subirats and Avinyonet del Penedès. The most important companies in this branch are those of the groups Codorniu i Freixenet, domiciled to Sant Sadurní, and Torres and Covides in Vilafranca. 

In the metallurgical sector the industries are concentrated in the municipalities of Santa Margarida i els Monjos, Vilafranca del Penedès and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. They are very varied, with the manufacture of metallic products, the construction of machinery, etc. Amongst these companies Vicor Industries, (Vilafranca del Penedès), Products Agma and Utymat (Santa Margarida i els Monjos) stand out. 

The sector dedicated to construction materials is concentrated in Vilafranca del Penedès and Santa Margarida i els Monjos. Most of the industries manufacture cement, lime and chalk, concrete and ceramic products. The two most important companies in this branch are Cements Uniland and Cerámica del Foix, in Santa Margarida i els Monjos.
