Communications. Access roads

Enlarged mapThe mountain ranges of Alt Penedès configure its access roads. For this reason, the main roads cross this area in the NE-SW direction.

The Depressió Prelitoral constitutes a natural path used in Roman times which was called Via Augusta.

Nowadays the most important roads are:

  • Motorway A-7, exits for Gelida, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Vilafranca del Penedès and els Monjos.

  • N-340 road, which runs alongside the district.

  • C-244 road, goes from l'Anoia to el Garraf crossing Vilafranca.

  • C-243 road, from Martorell to Terrassa, going through Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.

  • Rail: Barcelona-Tarragona.

  • A huge net of local roads communicate every place with the neighbouring towns.
